According to esports consultant Rod Breslau, Blizzard is reportedly attempting to cut down on anything related to Pepe the Frog within the Overwatch League due to “being potentially offensive.”
This comes after San Francisco Shock player Jay “Sinatraa” Lee was told by management via Blizzard to remove his birthday tweet because it featured Pepe in it. Sinatraa took to Twitter to say afterwards..
“l0l had to delete last tweet but thanks for the birthday wishes guy”
Breslau also mentioned that Blizzard have started removing Pepe signs at the Overwatch League events and have requested other Overwatch League players to remove all pepe-related memes and images from their social media accounts.
Many within the Overwatch community believe that Blizzard is overreacting to things and are pointing this belief at both the sudden apology from the Los Angeles Gladiators and the release of former Dallas Fuel player Felix “xQc” Lengyel.
