The Game That Never Was: Blur 2

Way back in 2010 a company called Bizarre Creation released an arcade combat racing game for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 titled Blur. Many had high hopes for the game since the company previously worked on popular racing games such as Formula 1 and Project Gotham Racing, and was even met with great reviews from both fans and critics alike.

With this news, the company quickly started developing a sequel on a new engine complete with new features such as the new ability to race on walls, and interactive tracks. In early 2020 a playable prototype of Blue 2 was leaked online and showed that not only were these rumors true, but it would have also featured 3-4 tracks at each location in the game. Some of those locations include Dubai, Liverpool, Odessa, Hong Kong, and Miami.

So why did the game never come to be? Well unfortunately the first Blur title didn’t reach the sales that Activision initially expected. The sequel officially died in January 2011 when Activision announced the closure of Bizarre Creation after they received no interest in another large company purchasing them outright.

While we will sadly never see a true sequel to this good racing game, at least those who have the ability can play the prototype and see what could have been.
