This morning in a Tweet EA announced they have finalized the transaction to become the new home for Codemasters and all of their racing games. The Publisher announced back in December of 2020 that it was looking to purchase Codemasters for $1.2 Billion. EA won the bid over Take-Two Interactive which is well known for it’s games such as Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.
With this purchase EA is bringing Codemasters wealth of knowledge on racing games into their catalog. This will help to broaden their EA Play subscription gaming service. EA Play also is connected to Xbox Gamepass therefore growing both subscription services. Some of the games to expect on EA Play will be Dirt 5, Dirty Rally 2.0, F1 2020, and many more.
We're excited to welcome @Codemasters to the EA family! 🚗💨 pic.twitter.com/y3yYB94vmF— Electronic Arts (@EA) February 18, 2021
