The Houston Outlaws have announced they have signed Korean Hitscan DPS Tae-min “MER1T“ Choi to their roster.
The 19-year-old has made quite a name for himself in the Overwatch scene all across Asia. At the age of 16 MER1T competed in Contenders: Pacific for New Pardigm before starting 2019 off with a bang joining Kongdoo Panthera after many a majority of their roster was signed to the Overwatch League. This year saw him compete in Contenders Korea and the latter part in China as a member of LGE.Huya, who operated as the academy team for the Chengdu Hunters at this time.
2020 saw him grow as a player joining the legendary organization RunAway for all of this year. This saw them winning three Korea vs China Invitationals, two 2nd place finished in Contenders: Korea, and a second place finish in a Widowmaker 1v1 series at NetEase Esports X Tournament losing in the finals to Pineapple.
MER1T remained with RunAway until their disbandment in July 2021 which saw him join O2 Blast. The roster finished the year strong winning Contenders: Korea and NetEast Esports X Tournament Winter 2021.
Outlaws fans seem to take the announcement positively as MER1T is considered to be one of the best Echo and Tracer players in all of Asia. With Pelican, Dantah, and the rumored Ezhan joining the team, the fanbase have plenty to smile about.
