As confirmed by Bloomberg Law, Judge Richard Seeborg of the Northern District of California have dismissed a class-action lawsuit against Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The lawsuit alleged that the company were attempting to form a monopoly through the Playstation Store. This was due to the company’s decision to no longer sell codes for digital titles on third-party stores back in 2019.
Judge Seeborg said:
“For all the foregoing reasons, the motion to dismiss is granted because Plaintiffs have failed to allege adequately anticompetitive conduct under the Sherman Act, and the other claims are derivative of the Sherman Act claims. Although it is unclear at this time if the deficiencies may be cured, Plaintiff is granted leave to amend.”
