In their latest financial results, GameStop noted on their full year overview they did several cost cutting measures throughout the 2022 fiscal year, but it seems that more could be on the horizon.
While one Redditor revealed on the official GameStop subreddit they were notified their store will be closing down in July, the company could also be pulling out of Europe entirely.
One redditor noted they had heard through the grapevine (no pun intended) that all GameStop locations within Ireland will be closing down in either June or July. While it may seem nothing more than a rumor, the OP did post an image making these allegations and the company’s plans regarding pre-orders Pro Loyalty Memberships:
Some investors seem to be in a happy mood coming off the results as despite net sales decreasing compared to 2021, the company did manage to pull a net profit of $48.2 million. This is compared to a net loss of $147.5 million for the prior year’s fourth quarter.
