GameStop Ending Cryptocurrency Service

As confirmed by Bloomberg, GameStop will be ending their cryptocurrency service and its wallets.

The company said in a statement:

“Due to the regulatory uncertainty of the crypto space, GameStop has decided to remove its iOS and Chrome Extension wallets from the market on November 1, 2023.”

Since its launch around this time last year, GameStop have been heavily criticized by both employees and the general public alike. Employees have noted that the money spent on the foundation of a cryptocurrency exchange could have been used on their existing store infrastructure and pay among employees. Customer were also quick to note that less than steller NFTs appeared on the site with the most infamous being the “Falling Man” NFT which is an unknown man falling down the World Trade Centers on September 11, 2001.
