In a new class action lawsuit filed in the Northern District of California is accusing Roblox of violating a federal law by facilitating what they deem as an “illegal gambling ring.”
A group of parents claim their children have lost real world money in the form of Roblox’s digital currency Robux on third-party websites.
While some websites named as co-conspirators such as Satozuki Limited B.V. and Studs Entertainment Ltd run outside of Roblox’s control, they do allow users to link Robux wallets to their sites.
In a statement to Bloomberg, Roblox said:
“These are third-party sites and have no legal affiliation to Roblox whatsoever. Bad actors make illegal use of Roblox’s intellectual property and branding to operate such sites in violation of our standards.”
