Lots of people are really looking forward to getting their hands of Microsoft’s HoloLens, but it doesn’t seem like that will be any time soon. Alex Kipman of Microsoft recently stated at a recent TED conference that the company wants to avoid the mistakes it made with Kinect.
Kipman said it would need lots of worthwhile software especially to justify the price it would cost for consumers to get their hands on the developer kit versions. Stating..
“If a consumer bought it today, they would have 12 things to do with it. And they would say ‘Cool, I bought a $3,000 product that I can do 12 things with and now it is collecting dust.’”
Yes, you are reading that correctly. Right now the development kit versions cost $3,000 each.
