The Xbox One S is supposed to be released on August 23 in Europe, but that hasn’t stopped somebody in Norway from getting a hold of one and unboxing it on camera. The uploader, Krister Kallekleiv, unboxed the system, but didn’t really do much afterwards.
However, it appears as if the console does not run at 4K right out of the box as Kallekleiv (Kudo76) mentioned on Twitter. When Geeksultd reached out to Kudo, they stated..
“There was no option for 4K. We had to do about a 4.5 gig update when it first powered on. We checked the display settings and it said 1080p. We changed HDMI cables and changed HDMI ports on the tv and nothing fixed the issue. Still won’t do 4K.”
“Maybe a “Day-One” update on August 2nd when it’s supposed to come out.”
Kudo also mentioned that when they put in a BluRay disc, it would also not run in 4K.
