Activision’s Original Idea For Call of Duty 2017 Revealed

In an interview with Newsweek, Activision CEO Eric Hershberg revealed the original plan for Call of Duty: WWII was not to take place in a World War II era. Instead, it was originally planned to be a sequel to the controversial Call of Duty: Advance Warfare.

The reason for this was due to the outcry of complaints made by gamers in regards to the futuristic setting, and a demand to return to the World War II roots. Hershberg stated..

“We knew they would become historians, that they would tackle it with authenticity, give it tremendous care and we also knew they would capture the unspeakable scale of World War II.”
