As confirmed by GamesIndustry.biz, Atari have made a minority investment in Playmaji.
This new partnership will see an integration between Playmaji’s popular retro game console Polymega and the Atari VCS. Playmaji will also be providing support for Atari titles on both the hardware and software side of the Polymega.
In more great news for Atari fans, Playmaji will also be developing a new cartridge model that will allow backwards compatibility of both Atari 2600 and 7800 titles.
Wade Rosen, chairman and CEO of Atari, said in a press release:
“Polymega’s approach fills an important need in the market, providing a hardware solution that allows players to legally access classic retro content while respecting game companies’ intellectual properties.”
