Warriors Esports DPS Christopher “August“ Norgrov has announced in a TwitLonger that he is retiring from Overwatch in every form. August stated the following:
The last couple weeks I gave some thought to my future and the things I want to achieve and work towards, and I decided that Overwatch isn’t something I want to continue. With the AU Contenders seeding tournament done there’s a month gap inbetween it and Contenders week 1, I chose this gap period to think about what I want to do and realized hearts no longer in the game and I think it’d be unfair to myself and my teammates to continue playing without effort, and above all I don’t want to continue something that’s making me unhappy.
I don’t plan to continue pursuing anything Overwatch related in the future, even casually. All of this said and done i’m not leaving on a negative note, I’m extremely pleased with my 2019 accomplishments in Overwatch, making possibly the last ever Australian Contenders Lan Finals, and even going to LA for the Overwatch World Cup. I’m proud that I was able to achieve some dreams of mine from awhile back, and happy I got to meet so many amazing people along the way and thankful for the teams and teammates that allowed me to achieve those goals, thank you all and,
See You, Space Cowboy.
In his short career, August made a name for himself playing for Warriors Esports, NoC Predators, Masterminds GC, and Mindfreak. He also represented New Zealand in the Overwatch World cup 2019.
