In a recent interview with Engadget, Compulsion Games Founder Guillaume Provost revealed that Steam Early Access has changed their lives as a company in a major way thanks to the sales they are receiving from We Happy Few on the service. It’s changed so much that the team has gone from 7 employees to 40 with some of these coming from major developers such as Square Enix, Warner Bros. Interactive, and Ubisoft.
Provost stated..
“Early access didn’t just help shape the overall direction and focus of the game, it shaped the very fabric and makeup of our team. It allows us to bring the game’s story campaign to a level of sophistication and depth that would have otherwise been out of reach.”
Provost also said during the interview that the game has become very ambitious as they are now spending more money each month than what they raised on Kickstarter back in 2015. If you’re curious, that amount is $334,754.
We Happy Few is in development for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
