Coolmatt Takes New Role Within Houston Outlaws Organization

The Houston Outlaws have announced that Matt “coolmatt” Iorio will no longer be playing for the Houston Outlaws and will now work in a new role within the organization.

While coolmatt has received lots of flack from the Overwatch community on Reddit, Outlaws General Manager Matt Rodriguez revealed on Twitter the reason for the change. Stating:

We were at our max budget for the season after the Rapel/Meko signing. Matt was on a guaranteed contract for 2020 and could have rode the roster for full salary. He decided he would take a large pay cut to allow the team to afford Jecse’s salary so the team could be more well rounded. Matt didn’t want to play but the selflessness and passion to see the team succeed even if it meant him losing out is admirable and why he’s now staff. I don’t really know how many other players in the league would do what he’s done, but the team is obviously very grateful for what he did and I am super glad he is still with us working on the management/operations side. Show Mr Coolman some love, he deserves it.
