Several store managers have taken to the GameStop subreddit to reveal they are experiencing cuts in pay. This is in part due to ongoing hours being cut company wide that first came to light earlier this month.
This doesn’t just include store hours overall, but also base payouts for bonuses being cut entirely without notifying anyone at the store level. One store manager said:
As store leaders, we are the primary workforce for this company and are told that we are “the face” of GameStop. I don’t FEEL like I’m the face of the company. They used to say, “The reason people shop with us is YOU,” so why is my pay going down? Why would we try to get a pro, or warranty, or reservations when we are no longer being compensated fairly (assuming you were being paid fairly to begin with)?
Another store manager revealed that after doing the math they would be taking a $6,000 per year pay-cut due to these changes. This same manager has also claimed that once their final bonus is given out several staff members including 6 SL2’s will be walking out of the district at the same time.
GameStop plan on rolling out stock payouts and remove bi-weekly incentive pay at the end of this month.
