As confirmed by a moderator on the official GameStop subreddit, the company will be eliminating the Game Advisor as soon as July 30.
Despite news circulating on the subreddit for the past couple of weeks, DuckSwimmer only heard about it officially from a store manager in a different territory. DuckSwimmer also noted they were told by their District Manger they were wanting to wait until the day after the policy went into effect and drop it on them. Stating:
“…why did I receive a message from an SL from another district within my region stating this was told to the DMs on their Thursday call (yesterday). This information was completely disregarded to be mentioned on todays call despite me speaking up and asking about it. I have a one on one at the end and I almost feel like I backed my DM into a corner by stating, a DM in the region made this public news to their district. GAs are being dissolved on 7/30, which is a Sunday. My DM wanted to wait until 7/31, Monday, to speak about this. All of those GAs would’ve been terminated automatically, they would have no jobs.”
Those who currently work as a Game Advisor will be able to apply for a Senior Game Advisor (entry-level keyholder) position or voluntarily resign from their position.
