In a recent post on the Intellivision Amico subreddit, a redditor asked if anyone knew the status of some of the games announced for the console since they have essentially fell off the face of the earth. The very first game mentioned was the most anticipated game for the console with is a new ToeJam and Earl game.
HumaNature, the company who are said to be developing the title, revealed they are currently not working on the game at all and haven’t been for the past year. The post reads:
Hey all! Just wanted to shoot this community a quick update that we are no longer working on an Amico version of ToeJam & Earl. We had originally started working on making a build of Back in the Groove that could run on the Amico but that’s where we stopped. Sorry for the bummers for anyone anticipating us to bring the funk to the party.
The OP also asked the question on whether or not Intellivision CEO Tommy Tallarico original statement that this game would be a “new and exclusive version” of ToeJam and Earl HumaNature said this was not the case at all. Stating:
There was some confusion with the members of both teams. Intellivision were definitely under the impression it would be a new version of TJ&E at one point, but we had started working on porting Back in the Groove.
I had a lot of ideas for updates and content that would definitely be exclusive to the Amico, just based on the unique hardware (the controller, lights on the console) but they were mainly just ideas rattling around in my head, no work on designing them.

The company have been focused primarily on updates for the already existing ports of Back in the Groove on various consoles.
