It’s officially an end of an era as G2 Esports have announced that Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux has retired from competitive play and will now focus on streaming and to help make professional Counter-Strike more accessible to the community.
SmithZz has been playing competitive Counter-Strike since 2006 during the Source days. During his tenure he has won several ESL, MLG, StarLadder, and Dreamhack events securing nearly $300,000 in prize money alone. Some of the teams he spent time with include H2k Gaming, ROCCAT, VeryGames, Titan eSports, Team EnVyUs, and of course G2 Esports where he had been a member of the organization since February 2016.
