According to a report by Anime News Network, a 40-year-old man has been arrested in the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo after threatening to set fire to the Square Enix office located in the ward.
The man allegedly sent a threatening message to the Shinjuku-based company through its website’s inquiry form on July 23 and was arrested for sending a threat and creating forcible obstruction of business.
This all stemmed from the man losing in a smartphone game and demanding his money be returned from the game. The man also threatened to repeat the fire that took place last month at Kyoto Animation.
The unnamed man admitted that he did send the message, but only meant it as a joke. It will still be taken seriously by Tokyo police.
