Infernal Technologies and Terminal Reality have filed a lawsuit against Microsoft accusing them of “egregious and wilful” patent infringement. The tech companies accuse Microsoft of using Patent 6,362,822 and Patent 7,061,488, relating to graphical lighting and shadowing methods without their permission.
The filing says that Microsoft infringed on these patients on various games including PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Sea of Thieves, Crackdown, and Halo 5 to name a few.
It’s worth noting that Terminal Reality and Infernal Technologies filed a lawsuit against Electronic Arts back in 2016 and led to a settlement being reached between all parties.
