In possibly the biggest story in video game history, Microsoft have announced they will be acquiring Activision Blizzard for a valuation of $95 per share ($68.7 billion) with the deal expected to close by Microsoft’s fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This acquisition would make Activision Blizzard and all of their subsidiary companies apart of the Microsoft family. This would include companies such as King, Major League Gaming, Raven Software, Toys for Bob, and Blizzard Entertainment.
Current Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick will remain in his position until the transaction closes and will continue to operate as its own entity until the deal is done.
While Sony fans have worried that this could mean that franchises could become exclusive to Xbox Series and PC, sources for Bloomberg say that the company will continue to make titles for Playstation consoles while also keeping some content exclusive to Xbox.
