After the Fallout 76 teaser trailer dropped and hearing “Country Roads” by John Denver talking about that place that’s almost heaven, West Virginia, many began speculating what could be in the game. NoClip is making a documentary about the history of Bethesda Game Studios and the making of Fallout 76, within the trailer for these two documentaries we see a Bethesda Game Studio artist wearing a Mothman shirt. One of which can be found at the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
This to me is a nod that they will have Mothman, and possibly the area of Point Pleasant in the game. In fact the TNT Area, as it has come to be known, is near the fairgrounds in Mason County and is where most of the famous sightings of Mothman can be found. Folks around the area claimed that due to the army storing ammunition in domes near the power plants is what helped to create this creature.
This leaves the question though of how will they actually bring Mothman into it? Will they include the statue and the museum from downtown Point Pleasant? Or will they actually create the creature which opens a lot of doors as well. Based on lore, the red-eyed creature was meant to be a warning that something bad was going to happen. The creature had showed up in the area prior to the collapse of the Silver Bridge that spanned the Ohio River and killed 48 people. Could the game developers include him as a quest guide where you follow this winged beast through the wasteland to hopefully prevent a catastrophe? Much of this is only speculation of course.
Bethesda’s E3 showcase is June, 10th at 9:30 PM EST so be sure to tune in to your favorite streaming location to check out what they have to offer and for the full unveiling of Fallout 76.
