YouTube’s channel updates has been met with backlash from smaller channels since it was implimented. Despite this, YouTube has not backed out of these changes and Nintendo are even joining in on the controversy.
Nintendo confirmed to The Verge their Nintendo Creators Program will be aligning to the same policies as YouTube. This means that on or after Feb. 20, if your channel does not have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours watched within the past year, you will no longer be monitized. Nintendo stated..
“The Nintendo Creators Program requires agreement to and participation in the YouTube Partner Program, so if channels do not meet the above eligibility requirements, they will not be able to monetize on the Nintendo Creators Program from their videos.”
