Hadoken.net were able to confirm from 2 independent sources that SNK Playmore will be reviving its Samurai Shodown series. The sources have stated that a new game is in development and is targeted for release some time in 2017. The game will also be using 2D gameplay with 3D models similar to what they are doing with King of Fighters XIV.
One source also stated that the current plan for Samurai Shodown is to also have an anime adaptation to coincide with the launch of the game as well.
No word on a system or title has been revealed at this time. SNK Playmore have also not confirmed these reports.
