Reddit user JackOLantern11982 has leaked what he is claiming to be details about the story and setting of Grand Theft Auto VI.
According to Jack, the game is currently being developed across all studios which they refer to as Rockstar Worldwide Production under the codename Project Americanas. It will also see us returning to Vice City, but it will also see some linear missions in Liberty City as well as a “new fictional location based on Rio de Janeiro.”
It will also take place in the 1970s and 1980s where you play as an up and coming drug lord-wannabe named “Ricardo”. Another key character called “Kacey” is a part of the narrative. You start off as a grunt doing runs as a cocaine smuggler from Vice City to the new large South American area before making connections with big time drug lords and making your way up. It’s said that the overall story will be heavily influenced by the popular Netflix series Narcos.
As far as the settings, it would see a heavily influence with weather. It could see actual bridges and road flooding due to hurricanes and other acts of nature. It would also see cars and building change around you as time progresses since it would take place over the course of two decades. It’s said that it could also see old classic cars be worth a fortune later in the game due to it becoming more rare.
We would also see the return of drug empire building similar to the one featured in Vice City Stories, but in a larger scale. The reddit user described it as “think the GTAOnline system and dial it up to 10.”
We need to note that this is a rumor and nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, nor any employees of said companies. It’s worth noting that while we do know that the game is in development, it’s said that the games are in developed for the next generation consoles as the leaker claims with no ETA.
