According to sources for ESPN, Activision Blizzard are looking price of expansion slots in the Overwatch League for between $30 and $60 million. The prices will vary depending on how many play Overwatch within the region and general population of the area. Four to six expansion slots will be available next season.
While many believe the rumored asking price of a $20 million buy in was insane, people have noted the improvements since before the inaugural season started. TwitchTracker shows that the English-language Twitch broadcast is ranging between 80,000-170,000 concurrent viewers. Several esports organizations have now received evaluations of over $100 million. Two of these teams are Immortals and Cloud9 which are both valued between $100-$140 million.
The Overwatch League also has almost $150 million in sponsorship and broadcasting rights. This includes a $90 million deal with Twitch, $17 million with HP Omen, and $10 million with Intel.
The last major contributor was the mainstream names who are investors. This includes Comcast Spectator, Stan Kroenke, Robert Kraft, and NetEase.
