According to a new report by The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission have opened an investigation into Activision Blizzard. This is related to the lawsuit filed by California Department of Fair Employment and Housing against the company for alleged gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and a “frat boy” work culture.
The SEC have asked the company to hand over various documents including board meeting minutes and personal documents of six high-ranking executives. One of which is Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick himself.
This investigation is said to be more about the investors of the company who are said to be not happy about the wave of negative media coverage Activision Blizzard has been experiencing as of late. They will be looking into whether or not the company correctly disclosed the ongoing allegations to shareholders.
Activision Blizzard released the following statement to The Wall Street Journal:
We have made and are making a number of important changes to improve our policies and procedures to ensure that there is no place anywhere in our company for discrimination, harassment, or unequal treatment of any kind.
