Sony Updates Patent For PS5’s Backwards Compatibility

Sony Interactive Entertainment have updated their patent for their backwards compatibility. This is for their Playstation 5 and the patent is described as “Real-time adjustment of application-specific operating parameters for backward compatibility.” This is related to how older titles can have performance increases without making adjustment to the game’s code.

This hints that Sony’s goal with the Playstation 5 is to improve the overall quality of a game on an older system similar to how Playstation 2 games ran on the original model Playstation 3’s using emulation which often looked better than just using a standard AV to HDMI adapter.
