Square-Enix announced today that they are filing a lawsuit in retaliation to a previous lawsuit filed by SNK. SNK filed a lawsuit against Square-Enix a couple months ago accusing the company of using SNK characters without their permission.
Square-Enix released this statement…
“Getting accused of the criminal complaint, the Company has decided to bring the said lawsuit to seek a declaratory judgment that the Company does not infringe the Defendant’s copyright,” a statement from Square Enix reads. “The Company will prove the point through civil procedures. The Company has been cooperating fully with police investigations since the domiciliary search, and will continuously maintain the cooperative stance with good faith.”
