Twisted Pixel, the studio that has brought you great games such as ‘Splosion Man, Comic Jumper, The Gunstringer, and LocoCycle, have announced that they will be splitting from Microsoft. Twisted Pixel was acquired by Microsoft back in 2011 shortly after Ms. Splosion Man was released.
Twisted Pixel Co-Founder and Creative Director released this statement…
“Microsoft has been an incredible partner since day one and we’ve always kept a background dialog open with them about the idea of returning to an independent studio model if the timing made sense for us.”
Twisted Pixel Executive Producer Bill Muehl also released a statement. Stating…
“This transition has been in the works for a few months, with both parties working together to lay the groundwork for us to spin out and become independent again. We’re looking forward to the new relationships and platforms this will open up to us and continuing our strong partnership with Microsoft on future titles for their platforms.”
Twisted Pixel will now go back to being truly independent like they were before the acquisition. We’re very interested to see what they have in store for us in the future. Their last game, LocoCycle, was released back in 2013.
