According to court documents uncovered by Waypoint, a former Activision IT worker had installed cameras in the office bathroom at their offices in Eden Prairie Minnesota back in 2018.
The employee, Tony Ray Nixon, plead guilty to “Interference with Privacy,” and allegedly violated his parole at a later time.
The court documents said that an anonymous employee entered the Eden Prairie police department lobby and “stated that he received an e-mail from Human Resources that an unauthorized monitoring device had been installed in the unisex bathrooms and that Activision was doing an internal investigation.”
It’s said that when a detective with the police department arrived the next day, “Management informed him that an employee had found two cameras in the unisex bathroom there, which were installed under the sinks.”
When Activision Blizzard conducted their own investigation they found that Nixon had shopped for several suspicious items related to cameras including waterproof camcorders, micro SD cards, and battery packs.
After being confronted, Nixon did admit to placing two cameras in the bathroom and had capturing footage for three weeks prior to being caught.
