A controversy that has surfaced around the YouTube community has been the addition of advertiser-friendly flags which according to the policy says..
“If the video does contain inappropriate content, the context is usually newsworthy or comedic and the creator’s intent is to inform or entertain (not offend or shock).”
This had led many such as Phillip DeFranco and Channel Awesome to worry that they will have their videos taken down because an advertiser doesn’t deem them to be ok.
In return, YouTube has released a statement regarding the policy by saying..
“While our policy of demonetizing videos due to advertiser-friendly concerns hasn’t changed, we’ve recently improved the notification and appeal process to ensure better communication.”
While this policy appears to be a more direct explanation on flagged videos, many YouTubers still feel like this could potentially lead to more issues such as the ones experienced with Fair Use and the DMCA.
